Inside Out

Tattoo's had always seemed like taboo's until they became completely individualized and accepted by society. All of the "lower class" or "misfits" had tattoo's to better express themselves in different era's of history. From sailor tattoo's to little butterflies that girls usually got as there "first" tattoo's.

Cultural initiations to getting your lovers name tattooed on whatever parts of your body. I myself have seen and witnessed some pretty incredible ones. My sister having a Maori tattoo with the tapping technique on her entire back, another interesting person with an Ali- "gator"  performing sexual pleasures on a woman with many more other ones as well, to beautiful feminine Asian woman's faces entangled into butterfly wings...

These photo's below take the art of tattoo into a whole other spectrum where it no longer is just a piece of yourself being permanently drawn on to represent people, places of things that you desire. Below is a piece of work of anothers character, of who he really seems to be, the inside out version.

There is no denying, this canvas of work is nothing short of incredible.

Delicious Moments of the Monday

Here are some delicious topics for the Monday blues day. This portrait of Mr. Penn is just exquisite. He is not the softest specimen to have walked the earth...... Deep lines as if they are markings of his past... Piercing blue, deep set eyes... I personally think a cigarette would have best finished off this photo.... I think this portrait best displays the characteristics of this legendary man. Dark.

Thank you to photographer Dusan Reljin for this shoot called Taxi Driver from 2005, beautifully lit and an innocence captured!

ShweShwe Poppi Dolls

These little ShweShwe Poppi Dolls were designed by children from Soweto and then put together with all different fabrics and sewing techniques.

I think they are the coolest, most unique dolls I have ever seen. The creativity and expression that was put into the dolls make them completely individual, almost as if they could be alive.

Hunter photographer Waldo Pretorius gave some of his time a month ago to re create these priceless dolls for charity. These dolls represent not only a cultural expression through design, but the younger generations of people who are giving back and supporting their communities through artistry and inventiveness. Amazing.

WhoMadeWho - Ooooohhhhhhhh

I was driving home from an old friends house on Friday night, Ipod on usual shuffle..... Next thing I hear Josh Homme's voice and check to see what song is playing, but no, its not Queens or Them Crooked Vultures cause I checked the name of the song and to my surprise I see WhoMadeWho as the band. At this point I wasn't sure if my ears were playing tricks on me or if I was seeing something that was not there. Regardless of who the band was now, I was intrigued, who is the singer of this band!!!!

My good friend Frank from Los Angeles aka Dj McNasty came to visit me in Jozi a year ago and gave me a shit load of music that he has collected over the years, very wide range of different feels, so when my Ipod shuffles, you can get anything from Classical Mozart to Mickey Avalon to WhoMadeWho - Score!!!... There is even some jungle book from the musical, not from Frank though!!!!

Any-who, back to WhoMadeWho. I have been thinking about it since Friday night and only this morning looked them up to find that they ROCK! Josh Homme did feat on the song I heard which is called "Space for Rent", amazing and had to trust my ears more after that.

So here is to the "Supposed Monday Spin" though its Tuesday because of Human Rights Day yesterday in Southern Africa...

Its worth spending some time listening to this band, some real talent, im convinced!!!

And Just because I can, here is a little shoe tease for all you ladies who love rocknroll, spikes and stiletto's, these babies will never fade in style and terrible Tuesdays will be had when rocking these!!!!!

Umm.. I think Yes.

Because Hunter enjoys all types of photography as well as art, especially captivating work, here is my monthly ode to the Sexy Blog that I love to follow as well as check out what new photographers work is inspiring them. This is a new series of Chris Head, love it, leave it, desire it, need it... Whichever you prefer, series not suited for the shy and prude people of the world.

Viva, to one of the sexiest, exciting blogs I know...!

The Shadow Club Photographed by Pieter Vosloo

An ode to The Shadow Club, one of the best bands that I have seen not just in South Africa but internationally as well. Its the blues structure mixed with this generations raw, rugged fueled disaster.

I first witnessed The Shadow Club a few years ago when there was a huge street party in Johannesburg, I didn't even know who the band was (wasn't getting out much those days) only to be heavily impressed and super surprised. Jack Daniel bottles flying around, leather jackets, old guitars with the rock and roll sound that I had missed, pure vocal tracks with the smokey undeniable tune, as if I was back in the days that Zeppelin used to play but it wasn't the 60's, it was now.

Architecture you Can Dream in

For more on this Story go to:  Fubiz

As previously stated, Hunter is a blog about all different features of art which includes architecture... I love dreamy ideals and this certainly hits the nail on the head in terms of the kind of room that I could have dreamt of as a child... Oceanic walls and a room in a ship off the ceiling, brilliant thought went into this, except maybe when I was growing up the ship would have been replaced by a barn with displays of horses on the walls running through green grass.

I can truthfully say that when I was in my teens, it would have been a large Sunflower shaped creation hanging from the ceiling with Grateful Dead Jerry Bears (in neon) that part actually happened, just not the Sunflower....

On The Way - To Lost Highway

On the way to writing the previous blog, I ran into some OUT OF THIS WORLD pictures also by the name of Lost Highway.... DIE!

All Images by Carter Smith (My New Obsession)

B Movie is the New A Grade - Nominations for Best Movies EVER - Part 1

As in music, we all have different ideas of what we would like to hear just as in motion pictures we desire abstract realities (for some of us) by the way Directors and Writers portray them. I might be cliche because a lot of these pictures are allocated to the deranged, X Generation and lot of us that like the "abnormal". So if anyone viewing this blog agree's, good on you, if not, start watching.

**NB** B Movie means to the writer of this blog, any movie picture that was NOT nominated for an Oscar and stands to B an Occult movie of a certain generation- Avid movie watchers, please don't be offended.  Even though John Hughes should be in here for Breakfast Club & 16 Candles, were getting a little edgier for this post, but we still love you John.

In regards to the topic of fashion and fad's,  these are all inspirational for the current times in there own ways (my kind of fashion) .. Lots of 80's, Pin Ups, 70's era

Death Proof - Written & Directed By Quentin Tarantino
Deathproof, a movie that I had to watch over and over again for a period in my life. The cast, made up of very versatile and strong females and the "protagonist" - Kurt Russel (in my opinion a great choice).

There is no better outcome then the one shown in this movie and makes the femanazi inside of me rage with fury...

As everyone and their mother has said, and I agree to... Yes, this flick is full of female dialogue, there is no way around that, but the substance of the writing is true to the T and so inspiring for young females who love spunk, bongs, dancing, music and a little ass whipping.

True Romance - Written by Quentin Tarantino
All I have to say is Christiaan slater & Patricia Arquette! Together and you get a wild fire of passion and undying love just as Natural Born killers.  I have always been a fan of characters that are struggling to find their lives, even if they don't amount to much... This is one of the most romantic pictures that has ever come to pass.

Lost Highway - Directed by David Lynch
Lost Highway completely floored me when it came not only to the Soundtrack produced by Trent Reznor ( a musical god) but the storyline like most of Lynch's pictures, are usually completely whacked and very hard to follow - we wont mention the intricacy of Mullholland Drive that I still don't understand till this day.

Patricia Arquette along with Balthazar Getty made the imagination drive into places of intense attraction as well as non attainable fantasy.

Heathers
There might be a definite "theme" to this blog it seems by the continual posting of couples in crazy movies and here he is again, Christiaan Slater. Winona Ryder has to feature in this blog as she has to be the B grade actress of them all, not forgetting about my fave, Patricia.

This story line, wow, wanting to kill all of the popular girls in school that you once were with your hot non conformist - psycho boyfriend, yes please!

( This blog is not for under-aged children and is not literal just figurative)

Sophie Morner (Most Importantly) & Other Daily Chores

Unknown Ancient Painting That I found

Since I started the Hunter blog, obviously my knowledge of the outside world has yearned to expand since no one wants to read about boring and mundane stories and i sure as hell dont.!
I am inspired!

A woman by the name of Sophie Morner has turned my head in more ways then one, besides the fact that I am obsessed with horses, well being a Hunter and all, not a hunter that kills for sport rather a Hunter that seeks all that is different, seductive, raw and undeniable, it all goes hand in hand...  Besides her eccentricity and encompassing the same vision that I have, she is recognizing South African Photographers which is incredibly special to me.  Here is the article to learn more about this incredible woman by the NY Times - Sophie Morner

When I moved back to South Africa from Los Angeles, one of my biggest desires was to push out all the artistry into the outside world (I mean all of it and the entire wold).  I found that a lot of people misconstrued South Africa to be something that it wasn't. Only in the past few years has the outside world only started to touch upon the purity and sophistication of this country. Some people were misinformed about the life and intellect of the country due to "crime" and 3rd wold behavior. Thats okay though, because Africa herself is the biggest untouched secret and you actually have to set foot on her soil to feel the essence of her wild and unharnessed being.

Getting back to the point, the more that people investigate this country and all the mystical wonders of it, the magic will unveil itself to all. Viva Africa!!!

George Rabe Photography: Roommates!

DOGGY DAWWWGGGGG WORLD

George Rabe Photography: Roommates!

Let it Flow...

I would personally like to thank the Karin + Raoul Blog for posting this new video and song by Radiohead.

Karin + Raoul has to be one of the sexiest blogs / sites in photography and fashion that I have seen. Sex is definitely defined on the site (which I love, especially through photography and music) though all the photographers that become their favorites are tasty as in delicious, not forgetting to mention, striking and full of everything that you think of when one fantasizes about (whatever comes to their particular mind when fantasizing about sex)

Radiohead, well they never manage to surprise me and its so nice to see Thom Yorke letting lose and dancing, there is such a freedom about him.

I managed to see Radiohead in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl years ago before moving back to South Africa, beautiful front row box seats... The tears that flowed between myself and my best friend were unbelievable. It was the year that they released Hail to the Thief and we hailed alright. Probably one of the most exquisite performances I have ever seen in my life and the lighting coordination was nothing short of spectacular.

Thank you to Radiohead for keeping it real and never selling out.
